October 10, 2024 - Results of the surgery!

I met with Dr. Uys today and I received the results of the pathology that was taken when I had my thyroid and the tumor removed. Dr. Uys said it was just a big goiter, but there is still a pathologist in Calgary reviewing the case because there's some abnormal looking cells, not cancerous cells, but abnormal looking cells called metaplasia. Metaplasia means cells that look a little bit different than normal cells, but they don't look like cancer. Dr. Uys also told me what they took out during surgery - my thyroid, the goiter tumor, and on one side, they found one parathyroid and transplanted it on the other side, and found another one and left it as is. Two of the four were so low that they left alone. 

All I am supposed to do now is have my blood drawn on the 22nd of October.

I went to the mall afterwards and I had a big cry, deeply relieved that it was not cancer because I didn't want it. I saw how it beat the heck out of my biodad and I did not want it.
