July 9, 2024 - My heart dropped...

This morning, I was chilling around the house and I suddenly got a call from Palliser clinic and they asked if I could either come in that day or tomorrow to the office to discuss the results of my biopsy. My heart dropped and I ended up texting my visiting teacher for help and she agreed to take me over there.

I went over to the clinic around 2 p.m. and met with Dr. Olalere and also saw my results beforehand on My Alberta Health.

Dr. Olalere told me that the atypical group of cells suggest the presence of popular thyroid carcinoma, and the remaining specimen will be submitted for thyro spec analysis. In other words, she said, they'll still want to do further analysis to give a more streamlined result, but for now, this is what they think is. She said the cells are abnormal, and they only see those abnormal cells when there is some form of carcinoma, and it suggests the presence of this papillary thyroid cancer. Dr. Olalere elected to send me to a surgeon and I agreed, my anxiety being through the roof.
